About the Author

The author Austra L. Galloway was born in October 1945 at the closing of WWII as America was recovering from battle fatigue. After his mother passed, he spent his childhood with his grandparents in Metcalfe Mississippi. This was a decision made by my father for my sister and I to live with his parents. My grandparents were the proud owners of forty acres of land and two mules. However, the farm was not free. Being reared up by grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles made my sister and I well rounded. For example: Grandma taught us about faith and how to recite the Lord’s prayer, (Matthews 6:9) how to print our names and count. My grandparents stressed to us the important of the golden rule. (Matthew 7:12) I spent lots of my time with grandpa. He was a very creative man. If a piece of equipment would break or worn out he would say a prayer about it and repair the item or make another one. Grandpa would always give me a task that I had to use my hands and mental capacity together. Grandpa knew very well how to farm and build houses. He first taught me how to build some steps to get into the house. Then he told me as long as there are trees you will have a job. Then he told me that going through life is like walking up the steps each step presents a new challenge. Make preparation, make a choice and each choice and each have consequences. Grandma was a virtuous woman that gave my sister and I home school before we were school age. One of grandma favorite books was the bible. She made sure that we had chores that we was responsible for each day. She taught me so well that I taught my first Sundayschool class when I was around twelve years old. Our dad would come visit us three to five times a week especially on weekends. With my upbringing I realized that everything in the world is built around God’s creation. Think about it. My grandparents always did things to lift each other up. (Ephesians 4:29, Ecclesiastes 4:10) This type of upbringing influenced my character whereby enabled me to have joy in my heart helped me to complete military service.
